David Lawhorn, was born March 26, 1960 in Fullerton California.  He is the 2nd oldest of six children who all still live here in Southern California. His father was born in Leslie West Virginia and his mother was born in Wyandotte Michigan and they continue to live in the home in Fullerton where David and his siblings grew up.

David along with his brothers and cousins, attended St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower. During his Junior year, David started working at Alpha Beta in Fullerton as a box boy where he met his future wife Kim. Kim drove a convertible Corvair which caught his attention since he was in to Dune Bugging with friends who preferred Corvair engines over Volkswagens for dune buggies due to the power.

David and Kim got married in 1984 and have three kids, Aimee, Morgan and Chad. David left Alpha Beta in 1984 when he was accepted into the Electrical Apprenticeship in Orange County with IBEW Local 441 where became a Journeyman Wireman Electrician and serving the membership as a Business Agent, International Organizer and retired as the Training Director of the OC Electrical Apprenticeship on June 30, 2020. David started a Consultant Business where he is currently working with a consortium of Transit Agencies and Unions on the new technology of Zero Emission Busses in California.

David’s volunteering began with numerous projects such as Habitat for Humanity and other Orange County projects for seniors and veterans needing upgrades and remodeling to their homes or apartments and low income areas needing repairs to local community rooms to have a safe place for after school programs. David join the Fullerton Elks in 2007, following in his father’s footsteps in the Elks who is a Navy Veteran. Upon joining the Lodge, he immediately began volunteering with the Veteran’s Committee attending the VA Hospital and other Lodge and District Veteran events. David was asked to become the Lodge Vet’s Chairman and served in that position for a few years and eventually becoming the District’s Veterans Vice Chairman. David became an Officer serving every position from Inner Guard to Exalted Ruler in 2018/2019.

In addition to serving the on the Lodges Veterans Committee, David served as the Lodges Sunday Brunch Chairman for 3 years and was awarded the Officer of the Year as Leading Knight for 2017/2018.  He has served as the District’s Indoctrination Chairman and Ritual Contest Member for the last few years.

David was asked to serve as the Orange Coast Districts Designate for Vice President for the 2021/2022 Elk year which he was honored to accept the appointment after getting approval and support from his wife Kim.

At the California Hawaii Elks Association convention in Fresno on May 7th, will be sworn in as the Vice President of the Orange Coast District.
