Jim Anderson

Jim Anderson was born January 12, 1958 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to George and Vivian Anderson. Jim is the oldest of three children. Jim’s brother Ron passed-away in 2008 after fighting a battle with cancer. His sister Joyce works for him from her home in the Bay area. Jim lost his Mom last year at the age of 89, his Dad is a member of the Garden Grove Elks and does some accounting for Jim.

Jim lived in Pittsburgh until he was 21 years old. Besides going to school in Pittsburgh, Jim started working when he was 12 years old doing some physical work; like shoveling snow in the winter, mowing lawns in the summer and any- thing else to make a buck. When he turned 16 years old he worked two jobs in the summer; during the day he worked on the production line at Sea Breeze, where his Dad worked, and at night went to work in a local Pizza Shop. By the time he was 18, he was running the production line and owned his own Pizza shop. Three years later, after having enough of the cold winters and humid summers, he decided to move west.

Jim had visited his Grandmother in California during the holidays of 1974 and stayed with his Uncle Ed and Aunt Isabel. So, when he decided to go west it was back to California. He had a job waiting for him and a place to stay.

Jim went to work for Philips Ultrasound in January of 1980 (the day after the Pittsburgh Steelers won their 4th Super Bowl) and worked there until 1986. During that time, Jim’s family had relocated to California. Jim and his dad joined the Santa Ana Elks Lodge November 1981. In 1986 Jim met Ingrid, the love of his life, and they got engaged in 1987. They were married, bought their first home, and had their first child Peter in 1988. In 1990 Jim started his first trucking company and in December Ingrid had son number two, Joey. Five years later, in January 1995, Kristina “The Princess” was born. Jim and Ingrid have raised three successful children; they are very proud of them. Ingrid has retired this year so she can travel with Jim.

Even though Jim was away from the Elks for a few years, Kristina (age 9) was becoming a regular at Pizza Sunday; along with Jim’s dad, mom, and Uncle Ed. Kristina was up line dancing and having a great time. She insisted that Jim come watch her, so he came back. (Kristina is now a 9-year member of the GG Emblem Club and a 4-year member of the Elks)

Jim was back almost a year when Garden Grove needed a Lecturing Knight. Big Dog Randy Barrows said, “try on this Red coat”, and then he said, “you just may be able to get elected”. Well he did get elected for the next 14 years as an officer.

In those 14 years Jim accomplished the following
